Overview

You don’t have to travel far to get to Homestead, but once you’re there, you may feel like you’ve stepped back in time, or discovered a hidden oasis. As Miami-Dade County’s second-oldest city (it was incorporated in 1913), it’s got the perfect blend of historic sites, natural beauty, choice food products, and entertainment to hit all of your tourism sweet spots. It’s a short 30 miles south of Miami, so whether you need a dose of hometown atmosphere or want the next best thing to a safari, this is the place to go.

Homestead has a rich history beginning when Henry Flagler decided to extend the railroad from Miami to Key West in 1904. The City of Homestead is located less than ten miles from Biscayne National Park and Everglades National Park and offers the ideal location for overnight guests to lodge, dine, shop, gather information, and purchase supplies when visiting the parks. These two national parks also provide Homestead residents easy access to nature and outdoor recreational and educational activities such as fishing, birding, kayaking and camping.

Florida City, where the sun shines all year long, is considered as one of the top vacation destinations in the United States.

Florida is famous for its wonderful attractions. On top of the list is the famous Florida Everglades. Teeming with wildlife, native trees, and plants make Everglades an ultimate adventure wherein one can commune with nature. There are a number of activities that one can do while visiting this nature park. One can go canoeing, kayaking, trekking, bird watching, and many more. Various tours are available to get to see and experience its 9 eco-system.

If you are into shopping, then Florida City will not fail to satiate that urge to spend. There are a number of outlets and stores located in open malls. Most of these malls are designed to recreate that tropical feel with its architectural designs and structure. If you are a bit tired from all that shopping, you can stop by at cafes and restaurants to get your fill and a boost for that needed energy.

You can also visit various museums and art galleries in the city. There are a number of parks, where one can relax and just absorb that tropical feel and soak in the warm rays of the sun. After a long tiring day, you can rest at numerous hotels, inns, and chalets. There are luxurious boutique hotels that you will truly enjoy.

Traveling in and out of the city will not be a problem. Miami International Airport is quite near and can be easily accessed from Florida City.
